All ready for South America

Two years after my first sabbatical, I'm ready to embark on a second one. It took me some time to get back on my feet and save enough money to get back on the road. I'm overjoyed about traveling to one of the most vibrant continents this planet has to offer. I will spend my first two months in Colombia, flying soon to Bogotá where I will meet my longtime friend Miguel, an International Relations and Conflict Resolution teacher at the Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano. I have no return ticket, and the plan is to spend as much time in South America as possible. My Spanish is rusty, but I will hopefully be able to catch up with all the lovely Colombians I will meet along the way.

My backpack is ready. With me, I have a copy of the classic Las venas abiertas de América Latina by Eduardo Galeano, a freshly bought sketchbook, wantercolor paper and watercolors—yes, this time I've decided to give watercolor painting a shot—pens, pencils, my passport, a few dollars for emergencies, and two changes of clothes. Travel light whenever you can: wash your clothes while showering and put them to dry overnight—this is usually a good plan if you're traveling in a sunny country.
