First sabbatical
The Annapurna Circuit is over
Done! I just finished the Annapurna Circuit and reached Pokhara (the second-largest city in Nepal). The 16 days spent in the Himalayas were absolutely unforgettable. I did the whole circuit in the company of Carsten, who is Danish and visiting Nepal for the third time. We met on the first day (on the way from Kathmandu to Dumre), and for six hours we shared the rooftop of the bus that took us to Besisahar, the starting point of the trek. I can say I was very lucky to have found someone to trek with. Although we saw many people traveling on their own, I reckon having someone to share experiences with helps create “common memories,” and what now binds us is much more than a simple trek in the mountains.

Without rushing, we managed to finish the trek in 16 days, including one day of acclimatization at 3,500 meters in Manang and one day of rest in Jomsom due to Carsten’s severe flu.
I will spend the remaining three days in Pokhara, gazing at Phewa Tal (the second-largest lake in the country) while smoking a cigarette with a paperback on my lap. On Friday, I will take the bus to the Indian border and then the train to Varanasi. Thanks for all the comments and visits to the blog. Although it’s hard to keep it updated, I am always flattered by the number of comments and emails I receive. Namaste.
